I didn’t set out to build a gym — I fell for this one as a member first: the facility, the mountain views, the little details you don’t find anywhere else. When I took over Athletic Evolution, the job became simple — listen to the people who train here, and keep making it better.
A gym that listens.
I didn’t start Athletic Evolution — I took it over. Before I owned the place, I was a member here, and I got to experience a facility and a set of mountain views I’d never seen at any other gym. It felt genuinely unique, and when the chance came to make it mine, I took it.
What sets AE apart isn’t any single piece of equipment — it’s that we actually listen. I take what members tell me and put it straight into the facility and the training floor, and I sweat the small details, because the little things are often what make the biggest difference. AE is built for everyone, too — from 13-year-olds finding their footing to seniors staying strong.
I started training at 16, and I’ve been in business my whole life. I grew up working in my family’s Ford dealership, became an owner at 23, and ran it until 28 — a professional environment that taught me everything from customer service and meeting deadlines to the full sales process, delivery, customer retention, and business etiquette. After five years running a company in the oilfield, I found Athletic Evolution, where I’ve now been for over 17 years.
I first came to Canmore 25 years ago to visit my sister, who’d moved out here — and I never really left. These days my number-one job is raising my 11-year-old son, Jace, and making time for family. When I’m not at the gym, you’ll find me skiing, biking, hiking, or out on the golf course in the valley I love.
